About us

Proposal for the National Action Plan on Sustainability

Pre Project:

Currently, the team is in the pre-project phase, working to define the needs and opportunities for the SDG Wizard. We are working with our partners to create a multi-faceted tool to help businesses and decision-makers move towards robust sustainability. We are a consortium of industry, business, academia, and …. Co-producing a tool to serve you.

Vision:

To create a streamlined method of sustainability reporting that is educational and effective for the end user and supports decision makers. By combining industrial and academic knowledge about sustainability we aim to support businesses and communities by providing a straightforward reliable sustainability tool.

About us:

We are a business-university partnership collaborating on consolidating all relevant academic and practical knowledge on sustainability to support the implementation of the SDGs in a local context. Currently the University of Bergen, ARCT, and — are working with Salmon Group, which is a member organization for aquaculture companies representing 42 companies and 115 aquaculture licenses, and the supplier. This partnership allows us to integrate feedback from the end user throughout the development process. Once completing the pre-project focused on concept and interface development the platform will be generalized from sea farming to a larger diversity of industries.

In the future, once this sustainability reporting and SDG target tracing platform have wide spread uptake, it will create a standardized indication of progress and an easy way for consumers to compare products based on sustainability. This will also ultimately support the Norwegian government’s sustainability goals by providing accountability and highlighting opportunities for improvement and support at various levels.

About SDG Wizard

SDG Wizard is an online multi-tool for business, government, decision-makers, and society.

The online platform helps you select the SDG Goals that are important to you with a focus on the more detailed SDG targets. Identifying which of the 169 SDG targets is most relevant to your business or project helps you create a tangible path to sustainability.

Karin Berentsen, ARCT, works with stakeholders in Lofoten on development of the SDG Wizard reporting tool

After selecting the SDG targets of interest to you, the Wizard prompts you with relevant questions to collect the information necessary to create a sustainability report. This will help the user (you!) identify where you are doing well, and how you can improve on weaker points. Data in the report can be updated as your business or project grows and changes, giving you real-time feedback and tracking on your sustainability profile.

The user interface is still in development and we are working closely with our partners to optimize the efficiency and outcomes of SDG Wizard for industry and business. This is an ongoing product being developed as part of the #LoVeSeSDG project: Developing and Localizing the SDG-thinking for Communities. Read more about this project at sdg.w.uib.no! We are working from the bottom-up on this project and are

very interested in input and ideas from as many people as possible. Please leave a comment below or contact the project lead, Dr. Dorothy Dankel, at dorothy.dankel@uib.no if you are interested in participating.
